Man convicted of fatal home invasion in Ettrick
Thursday, Aug 21, 2008 - 11:46 AM
The first of five suspects linked to a violent home invasion in Ettrick was convicted today of robbery and will serve six years in prison.
Nelson Dewayne Dunston, 20, entered a no-contest plea before Chesterfield Circuit Judge Cleo Powell. Dunston, who police alleged set up the robbery, waited in a car outside the home of Ronnie S. Gordon, 55, on Aug. 28, 2007.
Powell sentenced Dunston to 30 years in prison but suspended all but six years, noting that she believes Dunston played a role in the robbery and did nothing to stop it.
Gordon, who was shot three times, was in his first year of retirement from more than 30 years of work at Philip Morris. Police believe that the robbery netted just $30.
